Transportation

Transportation in Devon:

JOSH: In Devon the most common transport is by car, as I guess it is in most places around the world! There are also good bus  services to most areas although sometimes a long wait is required. The council is part way through updating the buses so their are still a number of very old ones around. Due to the leaks, hard and narrow seats as well as the poor suspension, these are to be avoided if possible!
Coaches are very common as Devon is a big tourist holiday spot and coach trips down to the area are very common.Cycling and walking are also very popular as it is such a scenic place with stunning views all around. Hiking is very common on the moors and camper vans and caravans are common as well. There are sometimes issues with locals and the annual camper vans with complaints about blocking off areas of land. There has been some serious court cases regards these matters very recently.

Transportation In Thessaloniki, Greece

Picture
ANASTASIA: Generally in Greece the most common way of transportation is by car. The other way of transportation is using the bus service. Bus service has improved really much the last years. First of all the last buses were different color and generally slower as their technology was very old. The picture on the left shows how the old buses are in Thessaloniki. There are still some of those buses around the city, however they have many disadvantages and that is why now we have improved buses. The main problem of the old buses is that there are three steps to walk in order to get on and off the bus which was really difficult for the elderly people and impossible for disable people.

The new things about bus service in Thessaloniki are basically two. First is the improved buses as I said above as well and the second is that they added a board which shows the time that buses are going to arrive in almost every bus stop. However the only thing that remained the same is that there is still no service during nights apart from only one bus that is going to the airport.
Taxi are also very common in Thessaloniki maybe because they are not expensive but also because after midnight residents don't have other options. The color of the cabs is blue with white and the color of them as well as the color of the buses differ from city to city in Greece.

The picture on the left is an example of the new buses, in the middle is a board showing the minutes of the buses and on the right are the cabs

The future plan about transportation in Thessaloniki is to finish the tube that started almost one and a half year ago and will connect the most important places by one line. Finally there is a train station in Thessaloniki from where trains to others places only from Greece are available, there are harbor facilities as well for the transportation of people to the islands and last there is an airport.

Transportation in Essex

SOPHIE: Personally I mainly use the train services to reach destinations throughout Essex, seeing as I dont drive this is the easiest form of transport that is fairly reliable and precise.  My daily travel into London by train  is easily accessed. The one problem with public transport is the ridiculous price of the journy by any means. The one thing that annoys teenagers in the area, me being one of the, is that 15 years of age counts as being an adult, so the price basically doubles which personally I think is a con, becaue isnt 18 meant to be an age of an adult?  Everything is pretty close by so I can easily walk into town, where the  main shops, resturants and attractions are. However there are loads of shopping centres around essex, which I will either use the c2c train services to get to, as well as the busses, all being within an few hours reach of eacother.  Eventhough its cheap, and a healthier way or transportng yourself, cycling is sparingly used, seeing as most people in their cars arnt very road friendly, aswell as the cycle paths being cut short and ending suddenly on the main road.

Transportion  in Poznan

BRAJAN: The most common form of transport in Poznan is the popular trams, which is  translated into English as 'Seed'  we call this in Poznan 'Pestka'. Even if you are going across the city, you can reliably take just a single tram for this journey. The whole ticket system is not actally expensive, however the penality fare is the most expensive throughout Poland, for example a 15 minutes ticket  2 zl (40 p) the penalty would be 500 zl (£100).  Talking of this, in Poznan its common to buy tickets per time, you pay for a certain amount of time, as you know how long each stop will take. Trains are the quickest form of transport compaired to buses, eventhough I have added modern photos of trams (tramwaj), buses (autobus) and trains (pociag) we still often use the old fasion style ones, mainly for the comfort and aesphetic  factor I try and avoid the old style for a cosy journey.
