I soon realised that the design was actually too big to be suitable for the site so I had to go through some major changes in shrinking both the height and the width. These models show my process in this development;

These very quick concept models helped me to think about different structures and shapes I could my push my design toward. I experimented in material as well to open my mind to other ways I could design the form and structure.
The last few images show ways I was experimenting in opening up a box to have different openings such as platforms, coverings, etc. This helped me to plan for my designs. I wanted to create an interactive building and I thought a good way to do this would be to create a lift. This was just me taking a hands on approach to work out how manual lifts could work.
I pushed my idea further and whilst looking up inspiration from tree houses and Le Corbusiers Villa Savoye, I developed my design into a much better proposition. This model has a pedal lift in order to gain access to the first floor, with balconies extending from this and the second level. The top level holds the main viewing platform with various viewing apparatus operating on all levels. The balconies and platforms can be opened or shut as required. I think its quite obvious how inspiration was drawn from the Villa Savoye..
I wanted to further develop the idea of the building being able to expand and open up. Some research and a very quick series of concept models led me to develop this idea further; Depending on the time of day/how busy it is the building can pull out to give more shelter below and more levels above which could be occupied. The viewing apparatus would go on top. There are a few problems with this design though and realistically it wouldn't function.
I developed my idea into this one. The small 'room's can be detached/attached easily as required depending on the need. Easy access is provided to the counters by the building resting on its many legs allowing customers to pass though quickly and viewing chambers can be placed on the roofs to allow for certain chosen sites to be seen.
These initial concept models were a way of me working out how to add and take away elements as would be required throughout the day/year. The 'blocks' can be added together with the roofs forming balconies which can be easily linked via gates and bridges that span the gaps in between.
